Scott Winn is a consultant who supports a variety of entities, from grass-roots organizations to governmental institutions, in addressing racial and other inequities and transforming policies and practices to achieve equity for all. He provides training, facilitation, coaching and strategic development.
He is a faculty member at the University of Washington, School of Social Work where he teaches courses centered on the role of social workers as agents for social and economic change focusing on systematic transformation. For eight years he was a Policy and Development Lead for the City of Seattle’s Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI). As the RSJI Educational Equity Lead, he organized for community-generated solutions, forging relationships among governmental institutions, including the City of Seattle, King County and the Seattle Public Schools, and community-based social service and social change organizations.
For the past 25 years he has been active with organizations engaged in racial, gender and economic transformation. In 1994, he was a founding board member of Seattle's Community Coalition for Environmental Justice. In 2000, he co-founded the Seattle's Coalition of Anti-Racist Whites. Currently he is the Chair of the Board for Western States Center, a Portland, OR based organization which works across multiple states connecting and building the power of community organizations to challenge and transform individuals, organizations and systems to achieve racial, gender and economic justice.
