Andrea Cristina Mercado is the Executive Director at the Florida New Majority. Previously Andrea was the Campaign Director at the National Domestic Workers Alliance. She is the daughter of South American immigrants and was raised in New York. Andrea was the Community Organizer and Political Director at Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA), a grassroots Latina immigrant women's organization in the San Francisco Bay Area, for eight years. She was one of the co-founders of the National Domestic Workers Alliance and played a leadership role in building and coordinating the California Domestic Workers Coalition. She has also lived and worked in Bahia, Brazil with Ipeterras, a sustainable agriculture project, organizing against free trade agreements and developing sustainable alternatives to migration. Andrea has two daughters and lives in South Florida.
