Dan Cantor is the Executive Director of the Working Families Party – New York's progressive third party. The WFP uses New York's unique 'fusion' voting system to hold politicians from the major parties accountable to progressives and working people. Using fusion, the WFP avoids the “wasted vote” and “spoiler” problems that otherwise plague third parties under the American winner-take-all system. Since its founding ten years ago, Cantor has helped lead the WFP's successful campaigns to raise New York's minimum wage, to reform the state's draconian Rockefeller Drug Laws, keep mass transit affordable and reliable, and prevent devastating state budget cuts by raising taxes on the wealthy. Cantor and the WFP have also helped to elect dozens of progressive candidates across the state to posts from City Council members to Mayors, state legislators and Members of Congress.
