Scott leads a senior staff of ten people and coordinates services for more than 150 professional community organizers and thousands of local leaders in fifty PICO affiliates. Scott oversees the development of the PICO National Network, staffs the PICO Board of Directors and plays a key role in fundraising and development.
Scott joined PICO in 1976 and has led its growth and transformation into a national network of faith-based organizing efforts in 150 cities and 17 states as well as 6 countries in Latin America and Africa. Scott Reed began organizing in 1970 in Chicago and went on to found some of the most successful community organizations in the United States. Scott has been closely involved in developing PICO's model of organizing, expanding its network from one federation in 1976 to 50 in 2009, and has helped lead its network to create statewide and national organizing efforts. Scott lives and works in San Diego, California.
